Jehoahaz. Jehoahaz (or Shallum) was chosen to replace the fallen Josiah even though he was Josiah’s youngest son (1 Chr. 3:15; Jer. 22:11). He may have been selected over his older brothers because he pursued an anti-Egyptian posture, like that of his father (cf. Ezek. 19:3, 4).
