6:40 Now, O my God. Solomon’s prayer ends with an adaptation of Ps. 132:8–10 about the joy of worship in the place chosen by God. The concluding words of the prayer given in 1 Kin. 8:50, 51 specify that the people were chosen by God and brought out of Egypt. Solomon asks God to remember the people and the place that He chose, and there to receive graciously all who turn to Him. Solomon’s appeal is based on God’s initiative in election.
