3:14 veil. Solomon’s temple was according to the pattern of Moses’ tabernacle but twice the size (Ex. 26:31–35). In Solomon’s temple also a veil separated the Most Holy Place from the Holy Place (“the nave”). The veil prohibited access to the Most Holy Place. It symbolized restriction of access to God’s presence, a restriction done away with in the mediating work of Christ’s death (Matt. 27:51 note; Heb. 9:1–14 note; 10:11–22 note).
