1 Sam 14:29

14:29 My father has troubled the land. The lack of confidence implicit in Jonathan’s exclusion of his father from his plans (v. 1) now rises to an outright condemnation of his father’s foolish action in binding the people under an oath. As in the case of Achan (Josh. 7:16–18, 25), a lot will be cast to uncover the guilty party, the “troubler” of the land. The lot reveals Jonathan as the one who violated the oath (v. 42), but the real troubler of Israel was Saul.
