4:4 Zadok and Abiathar. These were the two leading priests during the reign of David and the beginning of Solomon’s reign. Solomon deposed Abiathar for joining Adonijah in his sedition (1:7; 2:27), while Azariah succeeded Zadok as priest during the reign of Solomon (v. 2).
