1 Cor 3:12–15

3:12–15 These verses address the evaluation of Christian ministry. Some who were seeking to build God’s building in Corinth, but who depend on human wisdom, were using perishable materials (“wood, hay, straw”) that will not survive the judgment of God’s fire, while the builders themselves will barely escape destruction. Paul warns the church that they, like Solomon’s temple (1 Chr. 22:14–16), should be built up with what is lasting. See “The Final Judgment” at Matt. 25:41.
