1 Cor 11:21

11:21 One goes hungry, another gets drunk. Paul’s concern here is not with drunkenness as such but with the humiliation of the poor. The Lord’s Supper symbolizes, among other things, the unity of God’s people (10:17). Those Corinthians who were well-off apparently did not share with the less fortunate among them at the feasts where the Lord’s Supper was celebrated. This selfish behavior openly contradicted the meaning of the ceremony.
