5:6 Tiglath-pileser. A king of Assyria (745–727 b.c.), also called Pul (v. 26). He invaded Israel (2 Kin. 15:29) and required Ahaz to pay tribute (2 Chr. 28:21 note). See the introductions to Amos, Isaiah, Hosea, and Micah.
