3:15 sons of Josiah. Josiah’s firstborn, Johanan (otherwise unknown), did not succeed him. Shallum (Jehoahaz) followed Josiah (2 Chr. 36:1, 2; 2 Kin. 23:30, 31). Pharaoh Neco removed Shallum from power and replaced him with his brother, Eliakim (Jehoiakim, 2 Chr. 36:3, 4; 2 Kin. 23:32–34). Jehoiakim was succeeded by his son Jehoiachin (2 Chr. 36:9, 10; 2 Kin. 24:8–16), but Nebuchadnezzar replaced Jehoiachin with Josiah’s third son Zedekiah (2 Chr. 36:10–14; 2 Kin. 24:18–20).
