21:28–22:1 These verses are not found in 2 Sam. 24. They show an interest in sacrifice (21:28), and possibly help explain David’s neglect of the tabernacle (21:29, 30). The main point is that David recognized the threshing floor of Ornan as the site for the future temple (22:1). This remarkable ending with its clear account of moral failure in David’s life indicates vividly the place to which the community must turn for sacrifice, forgiveness, and answered prayer (2 Chr. 3:1; 6:12–42 and notes).
