15:11 Zadok and Abiathar. The two high priests during David’s reign. Zadok served at the tabernacle in Gibeon (16:39) and Abiathar served in Jerusalem (18:16; 27:34 and notes). Solomon later excluded Abiathar because of his support of Adonijah’s bid for the throne (1 Kin. 1:7; 2:26, 27). This left Zadok and his descendants as the high priestly family in Jerusalem (6:1, 53 and notes).
