III. A Pure Heart (2:1–26)

A pure heart requires strength, faithfulness, and God's approval. Timothy will demonstrate these by imparting to others what he has received (v. 2) and by reflecting on Paul's illustrations of the committed soldier, disciplined athlete, and hard-working farmer (vv. 3-7). Finally, Timothy is to use God's Word correctly (v. 15), avoid wickedness (vv. 16-19), pursue righteousness (vv. 20-23), and rescue those captured by the Devil (vv. 24-26).
