II. Promoting Sound Doctrine (1:5–16)

To make sure that the truth is proclaimed correctly, Titus must choose elders for God's household (vv. 5-9) and identify the rebellious (vv. 10-16). Elders are to be recognized as blameless and observed as encouragers of the faithful and refuters of false doctrine. The rebellious are to be recognized as deceivers and observed as corrupters of the faithful and deniers of the truth.
