It is helpful to note that vv. 1-9 are descriptive of the disrespect exhibited toward Edom by nations with which they had been in league. Vv. 10-14 show the conduct of Edom toward Israel when the nation was under siege. Their consent to watch with delight was changed to enthusiastic cooperation with Israel's enemies.
