III. Ordination of Priests and Initiation of Sacrifices (8:1–10:20)

Chs. 8-10 constitute the second major section of Leviticus. Regulations for the sacrifices having been presented in the previous chapters, the present material describes the inauguration of the offerings. Because a priesthood was required for the making of sacrifices, the ordination of Aaron and his sons is first recorded; then these chapters describe making the first offerings on the new altar.
