I. Jesus: God's Good News (1:1–15)

The opening section of Mark's story clearly communicates Jesus' significance and prepares for Jesus' first public act of ministry: calling disciples (1:16-18). The prologue begins and ends with matching references to the “good news”: the gospel [euangelion] about Jesus in v. 1 and the good news [euangelion] of God in vv. 14-15.
