V. A Faithful Message (4:9–18)

Aware of his approaching death, Paul reflects on his few remaining companions and his need of Timothy. Paul then warns Timothy to be on guard concerning Alexander (vv. 14-15). This solemn note quickly changes to praise as Paul reflects on the Lord's faithful presence and deliverance (vv. 16-18).
