I. The Communion of Youthful Lovers (1:1–3:5)

If Israel and Judah had been satisfied with the delights of human love among themselves as portrayed in the communication that these young lovers enjoyed, they might not have fallen into ruin as they did. Intermarriage with heathen nations around them brought the influence of the corruptions of a morally declining civilization.
