Bela, Belah

Bela, Belah [Bē'lă, Bē'lah]—devouring or consumption.

  1. The first king of Edom the Bible mentions. His father’s name was Beor (Gen. 36:32, 33; 1 Chron. 1:43, 44).
  2. The eldest son of Benjamin, and founder of the family of Belaites (Gen. 46:21; Num. 26:38, 40).
  3. A son of Azaz of the tribe of Reuben (1 Chron. 5:8). Also the name of a city (Gen. 14:2, 8).
