  1. You engaged in prostitution with the Egyptians, your neighbors with large genitals, and aroused my anger with your increasing promiscuity.

  8. But for the sake of my name, I brought them out of Egypt. I did it to keep my name from being profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they lived and in whose sight I had revealed myself to the Israelites.
  9. Therefore I led them out of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.
  10. As I judged your ancestors in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will judge you, declares the Sovereign Lord.
  11. They became prostitutes in Egypt, engaging in prostitution from their youth. In that land their breasts were fondled and their virgin bosoms caressed.
  12. She did not give up the prostitution she began in Egypt, when during her youth men slept with her, caressed her virgin bosom and poured out their lust on her.
  13. Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt.
  14. So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.
  15. So I will put a stop to the lewdness and prostitution you began in Egypt. You will not look on these things with longing or remember Egypt anymore.
  16. Fine embroidered linen from Egypt was your sail and served as your banner; your awnings were of blue and purple from the coasts of Elishah.
  17. A Prophecy Against Egypt

    Judgment on Pharaoh

    In the tenth year, in the tenth month on the twelfth day, the word of the Lord came to me:
  18. “Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.
  19. Speak to him and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “‘I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, you great monster lying among your streams. You say, “The Nile belongs to me; I made it for myself.”
  20. Then all who live in Egypt will know that I am the Lord. “‘You have been a staff of reed for the people of Israel.
  21. Egypt will become a desolate wasteland. Then they will know that I am the Lord. “‘Because you said, “The Nile is mine; I made it,”
  22. therefore I am against you and against your streams, and I will make the land of Egypt a ruin and a desolate waste from Migdol to Aswan, as far as the border of Cush.
  23. I will make the land of Egypt desolate among devastated lands, and her cities will lie desolate forty years among ruined cities. And I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries.
  24. “‘Yet this is what the Sovereign Lord says: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the nations where they were scattered.
  25. I will bring them back from captivity and return them to Upper Egypt, the land of their ancestry. There they will be a lowly kingdom.
