  1. Ezekiel’s Inaugural Vision

    In my thirtieth year, in the fourth month on the fifth day, while I was among the exiles by the Kebar River, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.
  2. God’s Razor of Judgment

    “Now, son of man, take a sharp sword and use it as a barber’s razor to shave your head and your beard. Then take a set of scales and divide up the hair.
  3. He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. The Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and in visions of God he took me to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the idol that provokes to jealousy stood.
  4. And there before me was the glory of the God of Israel, as in the vision I had seen in the plain.
  5. Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the house of the Lord, and I saw women sitting there, mourning the god Tammuz.
  6. Now the glory of the God of Israel went up from above the cherubim, where it had been, and moved to the threshold of the temple. Then the Lord called to the man clothed in linen who had the writing kit at his side
  7. God’s Glory Departs From the Temple

    I looked, and I saw the likeness of a throne of lapis lazuli above the vault that was over the heads of the cherubim.
  8. The sound of the wings of the cherubim could be heard as far away as the outer court, like the voice of God Almighty when he speaks.
  9. While I watched, the cherubim spread their wings and rose from the ground, and as they went, the wheels went with them. They stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the Lord’s house, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
  10. These were the living creatures I had seen beneath the God of Israel by the Kebar River, and I realized that they were cherubim.
  11. God’s Sure Judgment on Jerusalem

    Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the Lord that faces east. There at the entrance of the gate were twenty-five men, and I saw among them Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.
  12. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.
  13. Then the cherubim, with the wheels beside them, spread their wings, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
  14. The Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the exiles in Babylonia in the vision given by the Spirit of God. Then the vision I had seen went up from me,
  15. Then the people of Israel will no longer stray from me, nor will they defile themselves anymore with all their sins. They will be my people, and I will be their God, declares the Sovereign Lord.’”
  16. and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On the day I chose Israel, I swore with uplifted hand to the descendants of Jacob and revealed myself to them in Egypt. With uplifted hand I said to them, “I am the Lord your God.”
  17. And I said to them, “Each of you, get rid of the vile images you have set your eyes on, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”
  18. I am the Lord your God; follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
  19. Keep my Sabbaths holy, that they may be a sign between us. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.”
  20. Babylon as God’s Sword of Judgment

    The word of the Lord came to me:
  21. “Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “‘In the pride of your heart you say, “I am a god; I sit on the throne of a god in the heart of the seas.” But you are a mere mortal and not a god, though you think you are as wise as a god.
  22. “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “‘Because you think you are wise, as wise as a god,
  23. Will you then say, “I am a god,” in the presence of those who kill you? You will be but a mortal, not a god, in the hands of those who slay you.
  24. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: carnelian, chrysolite and emerald, topaz, onyx and jasper, lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl. Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created they were prepared.
  25. You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones.
