How Should We Translate ‘Pistis Christou’? Darrell L. Bock
Posted in New Testament by Darrell L. Bock on November 10th, 2010Question: How should we translate the phrase pistis Christou (πίστις Χριστοῦ) in such passages as Galatians 2:16?
My take here in Galatians 2:16 is that the key topic is our response contextually (given the discussion is about not being saved by works of the Law). So “faith in Christ” is better here. (Here I go against the NET by the way). What Christ’s faithfulness has done clears the way for salvation, but justification does not actually kick in until we respond.
