Institution of the Lord's Supper

¹⁴^(A)And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. ¹⁵And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. ¹⁶For I tell you I will not eat it^[a] ^(B)until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” ¹⁷And he took a cup, and ^(C)when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. ¹⁸^(D)For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine ^(E)until the kingdom of God comes.” ¹⁹^(F)And he took bread, and ^(G)when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, ^(H)“This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” ²⁰And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, ^(I)“This cup that is poured out for you is ^(J)the new ^(K)covenant in my blood.^[b] ²¹^(L)But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is ^(M)with me on the table. ²²For the Son of Man goes ^(N)as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!” ²³And they began to question one another, which of them it could be who was going to do this.

Who Is the Greatest?

²⁴^(O)A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. ²⁵^(P)And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles ^(Q)exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. ²⁶^(R)But not so with you. Rather, let ^(S)the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. ²⁷For who is the greater, ^(T)one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But ^(U)I am among you as the one who serves.

²⁸“You are those who have stayed with me ^(V)in my trials, ²⁹and ^(W)I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom, ³⁰^(X)that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and ^(Y)sit on thrones judging ^(Z)the twelve tribes of Israel.

Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial

³¹“Simon, Simon, behold, ^(AA)Satan demanded to have you,^[c] ^(AB)that he might sift you like wheat, ³²but ^(AC)I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, ^(AD)strengthen your brothers.” ³³Peter^[d] said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both ^(AE)to prison and ^(AF)to death.” ³⁴^(AG)Jesus^[e] said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”

92 ^(A)It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
    to sing praises to your name, ^(B)O Most High;
²to declare your ^(C)steadfast love in ^(D)the morning,
    and your ^(E)faithfulness by ^(F)night,
³to the music of ^(G)the lute and ^(H)the harp,
    to the melody of ^(I)the lyre.
⁴For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your ^(J)work;
    at ^(K)the works of your hands I sing for joy.

⁵How ^(L)great are your works, O Lord!
    Your ^(M)thoughts are very ^(N)deep!
⁶The stupid man cannot know;
    the fool cannot understand this:
⁷that though ^(O)the wicked sprout like grass
    and all ^(P)evildoers flourish,
they are doomed to destruction forever;
⁸    but you, O Lord, are ^(Q)on high forever.
⁹For behold, your enemies, O Lord,
    for behold, your enemies shall perish;
    all evildoers shall be ^(R)scattered.

¹⁰But you have exalted my ^(S)horn like that of ^(T)the wild ox;
you have ^(U)poured over me^[a] fresh oil.
¹¹My ^(V)eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies;
my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.

¹²^(W)The righteous flourish like the palm tree
    and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
¹³They are planted in the house of the Lord;
    they flourish in ^(X)the courts of our God.
¹⁴They still bear fruit in old age;
    they are ever full of sap and green,
¹⁵^(Y)to declare that the Lord is upright;
    he is my ^(Z)rock, and there is ^(AA)no unrighteousness in him.

The Lord Reigns

93 ^(AB)The Lord reigns; he is ^(AC)robed in majesty;
the Lord is ^(AD)robed; he has ^(AE)put on strength as his belt.
^(AF)Yes, the world is established; ^(AG)it shall never be moved.
²^(AH)Your throne is established from of old;
^(AI)you are from everlasting.

³^(AJ)The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
    the floods have lifted up their voice;
    the floods lift up their roaring.
⁴Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
    mightier than the waves of the sea,
    ^(AK)the Lord ^(AL)on high is mighty!
