Galatians 5:13-6:18

New King James Version

¹³For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only ^(A)do not use liberty as an ^(B)opportunity for the flesh, but ^(C)through love serve one another. ¹⁴For ^(D)all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: ^(E)“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” ¹⁵But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!

Walking in the Spirit

¹⁶I say then: ^(F)Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. ¹⁷For ^(G)the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, ^(H)so that you do not do the things that you wish. ¹⁸But ^(I)if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

¹⁹Now ^(J)the works of the flesh are evident, which are: ^[a]adultery, ^[b]fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, ²⁰idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, ²¹envy, ^[c]murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that ^(K)those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

²²But ^(L)the fruit of the Spirit is ^(M)love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, ^(N)goodness, ^(O)faithfulness, ²³^[d]gentleness, self-control. ^(P)Against such there is no law. ²⁴And those who are Christ’s ^(Q)have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ²⁵^(R)If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. ²⁶^(S)Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Bear and Share Burdens

6 Brethren, if a man is ^[e]overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of ^(T)gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. ²^(U)Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill ^(V)the law of Christ. ³For ^(W)if anyone thinks himself to be something, when ^(X)he is nothing, he deceives himself. ⁴But ^(Y)let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and ^(Z)not in another. ⁵For ^(AA)each one shall bear his own load.

Be Generous and Do Good

⁶^(AB)Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.

⁷Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for ^(AC)whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. ⁸For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap ^(AD)everlasting life. ⁹And ^(AE)let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap ^(AF)if we do not lose heart. ¹⁰^(AG)Therefore, as we have opportunity, ^(AH)let us do good to all, ^(AI)especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Glory Only in the Cross

¹¹See with what large letters I have written to you with my own hand! ¹²As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, ^(AJ)only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. ¹³For not even those who are circumcised keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. ¹⁴But God forbid that I should boast except in the ^(AK)cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by ^[f]whom the world has been crucified to me, and ^(AL)I to the world. ¹⁵For ^(AM)in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.

Blessing and a Plea

¹⁶And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

¹⁷From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

¹⁸Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

An Appeal for Israel’s Repentance

To the Chief Musician. ^(A)On^[a] an instrument of Gath. A Psalm of Asaph.

81 Sing aloud to God our strength;
Make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob.
²Raise a song and strike the timbrel,
The pleasant harp with the lute.

³Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon,
At the full moon, on our solemn feast day.
⁴For ^(B)this is a statute for Israel,
A law of the God of Jacob.
⁵This He established in Joseph as a testimony,
When He went throughout the land of Egypt,
^(C)Where I heard a language I did not understand.

⁶“I removed his shoulder from the burden;
His hands were freed from the baskets.
⁷^(D)You called in trouble, and I delivered you;
^(E)I answered you in the secret place of thunder;
I ^(F)tested you at the waters of ^[b]Meribah. Selah

⁸“Hear,^(G) O My people, and I will admonish you!
O Israel, if you will listen to Me!
⁹There shall be no ^(H)foreign god among you;
Nor shall you worship any foreign god.
¹⁰^(I)I am the Lord your God,
Who brought you out of the land of Egypt;
^(J)Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

¹¹“But My people would not heed My voice,
And Israel would have ^(K)none of Me.
¹²^(L)So I gave them over to ^[c]their own stubborn heart,
To walk in their own counsels.

¹³“Oh,^(M) that My people would listen to Me,
That Israel would walk in My ways!
¹⁴I would soon subdue their enemies,
And turn My hand against their adversaries.
¹⁵^(N)The haters of the Lord would pretend submission to Him,
But their ^[d]fate would endure forever.
¹⁶He would ^(O)have fed them also with ^[e]the finest of wheat;
And with honey ^(P)from the rock I would have satisfied you.”
