Mark 12

 ¹And He began to speak unto them by parables: "A certain man planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and dug a place for the wine vat, and built a watchtower; and he leased it out to husbandmen and went into a far country.

   
 ²And at the harvest season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

   
 ³And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.

   
 ⁴And again he sent unto them another servant, and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.

   
 ⁵And again he sent another, and him they killed, and many others, beating some and killing some.

   
 ⁶Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, `They will reverence my son.'

   
 ⁷But those husbandmen said among themselves, `This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.'

   
 ⁸And they took him and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

   
 ⁹What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

   
 ¹⁰And have ye not read this Scripture? `The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner;

   
 ¹¹this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.'"

   
 ¹²And they sought to lay hold on Him, but they feared the people, for they knew that He had spoken the parable against them. And they left Him, and went their way.

   
 ¹³And they sent unto Him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians to catch Him in His words.

   
 ¹⁴And when they had come, they said unto Him, "Master, we know that thou art true and carest for no man; for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

   
 ¹⁵Shall we give, or shall we not give?" But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, "Why tempt ye Me? Bring Me a penny, that I may see it."

   
 ¹⁶And they brought it, and He said unto them, "Whose image and superscription is this?" And they said unto Him, "Caesar's."

   
 ¹⁷And Jesus answering, said unto them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they marveled at Him.

   
 ¹⁸Then came unto Him the Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection. And they asked Him, saying,

   
 ¹⁹"Master, Moses wrote unto us that if a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, then his brother should take his wife and raise up seed unto his brother.

   
 ²⁰Now there were seven brethren; and the first took a wife, and dying, left no seed.

   
 ²¹And the second took her and died, neither leaving any seed. And the third likewise.

   
 ²²So the seven had her and left no seed. Last of all the woman died also.

   
 ²³In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be, for all seven had her for a wife?"

   
 ²⁴And Jesus answering, said unto them, "Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of God?

   
 ²⁵For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels who are in Heaven.

   
 ²⁶And concerning the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spoke unto him, saying, `I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'?

   
 ²⁷He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. Ye therefore do greatly err."

   
 ²⁸And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?"

   
 ²⁹And Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: `Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord.

   
 ³⁰And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength;' this is the first commandment.

   
 ³¹And the second is like, namely this: `Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

   
 ³²And the scribe said unto Him, "Well, Master, thou hast said the truth, for there is one God, and there is none other than He.

   
 ³³And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices."

   
 ³⁴And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, He said unto him, "Thou art not far from the Kingdom of God." And no man after that dared ask Him any question.

   
 ³⁵And Jesus answered and said, while He taught in the temple, "How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David?

   
 ³⁶For David himself said by the Holy Ghost: `The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit Thou at My right hand until I make Thine enemies Thy footstool."'

   
 ³⁷David therefore himself calleth Him `Lord'; and whence is He then his son?" And the common people heard Him gladly.

   
 ³⁸And He said unto them in His doctrine, "Beware of the scribes, who love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,

   
 ³⁹and the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts,

   
 ⁴⁰who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation."

   
 ⁴¹And Jesus sat opposite the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury. And many who were rich cast in much.

   
 ⁴²And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

   
 ⁴³And He called unto Him His disciples and said unto them, "Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast more in than all they that have cast into the treasury;

   
 ⁴⁴for they all cast in of their abundance, but she of her want cast in all that she had, even all her living."

   

Mark 13

 ¹And as He went out of the temple, one of His disciples said unto Him, "Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!"

   
 ²And Jesus answering, said unto him, "Seest thou these great buildings? There shall not be left one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down."

   
 ³And as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked Him privately,

   
 ⁴"Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?"

   
 ⁵And Jesus answering them, began to say, "Take heed lest any man deceive you.

   
 ⁶For many shall come in My name, saying, `I am Christ!' and shall deceive many.

   
 ⁷And when ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, be ye not troubled, for such things must come to pass; but the end shall not be yet.

   
 ⁸For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows.

   
 ⁹"But take heed for yourselves, for they shall deliver you up to councils, and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten. And ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them.

   
 ¹⁰And the Gospel must first be proclaimed among all nations.

   
 ¹¹But when then shall lead you and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak; neither need ye premeditate. But whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye; for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

   
 ¹²Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents and shall cause them to be put to death.

   
 ¹³And ye shall be hated by all men for My name's sake; but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

   
 ¹⁴"But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not be" (let him that readeth understand), "then let them that be in Judea flee to the mountains.

   
 ¹⁵And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein to take any thing out of his house.

   
 ¹⁶And let him that is in the field not turn back again to take up his garment.

   
 ¹⁷But woe to them that are with child and to them that give suck in those days!

   
 ¹⁸And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.

   
 ¹⁹For in those days shall be affliction such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, neither shall be.

   
 ²⁰And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved; but for the elect's sake, whom He hath chosen, He hath shortened the days.

   
 ²¹And then if any man shall say to you, `Lo, here is Christ!' or, `Lo, He is there!' believe him not;

   
 ²²for false christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

   
 ²³But take ye heed; behold, I have foretold you all things.

   
 ²⁴"But in those days, after that tribulation, `the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

   
 ²⁵and the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.'

   
 ²⁶And then shall they see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

   
 ²⁷And then shall He send His angels and shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

   
 ²⁸"Now learn a parable of the fig tree: When her branch is yet tender and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near.

   
 ²⁹So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.

   
 ³⁰Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass till all these things be done.

   
 ³¹Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.

   
 ³²But of that day and that hour knoweth no man -- no, not the angels who are in Heaven, neither the Son, but only the Father.

   
 ³³"Take ye heed, watch and pray; for ye know not when the time is.

   
 ³⁴For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch.

   
 ³⁵Watch ye therefore, for ye know not when the Master of the house cometh -- at evening, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning --

   
 ³⁶lest coming suddenly, He find you sleeping.

   
 ³⁷And what I say unto you, I say unto all: Watch!"
