For(AS) they were not listed among the people of Israel, because(AT) there was no inheritance given to them among the people of Israel.

63These were those listed by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who listed the people of Israel(AU) in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho. 64(AV) But among these there was not one of those listed by Moses and Aaron the priest, who had listed the people of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai. 65For the LORD had said of them,(AW) "They shall die in the wilderness." Not one of them was left,(AX) except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.

Numbers 27

The Daughters of Zelophehad
1Then drew near the daughters of(AY) Zelophehad the son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, from the clans of Manasseh the son of Joseph. The names of his daughters were: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. 2And they stood before Moses and before Eleazar the priest and before the chiefs and all the congregation, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, saying, 3"Our father(AZ) died in the wilderness. He was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against the LORD(BA) in the company of Korah, but(BB) died for his own sin. And he had no sons. 4Why should the name of our father be taken away from his clan because he had no son?(BC) Give to us a possession among our father’s brothers."

5Moses(BD) brought their case before the LORD. 6And the LORD said to Moses, 7"The daughters of Zelophehad(BE) are right.(BF) You shall give them possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers and transfer the inheritance of their father to them. 8And you shall speak to the people of Israel, saying, 'If a man dies and has no son, then you shall transfer his inheritance to his daughter. 9And if he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers. 10And if he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. 11And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to the nearest(BG) kinsman of his clan, and he shall possess it. And it shall be for the people of Israel(BH) a statute and rule, as the LORD commanded Moses.'"

Joshua to Succeed Moses
12The LORD said to Moses, "Go up into(BI) this mountain of Abarim and see the land that I have given to the people of Israel. 13When you have seen it, you also(BJ) shall be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was, 14(BK) because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin when the congregation quarreled, failing(BL) to uphold me as holy at the waters before their eyes." (These are(BM) the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.) 15Moses spoke to the LORD, saying, 16"Let the LORD,(BN) the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation 17who(BO) shall go out before them and come in before them, who shall lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be(BP) as sheep that have no shepherd." 18So the LORD said to Moses, "Take(BQ) Joshua the son of Nun, a man(BR) in whom is the Spirit, and(BS) lay your hand on him. 19Make him stand before Eleazar the priest and all the congregation, and you shall(BT) commission him in their sight. 20You shall invest him with some of your authority,(BU) that all the congregation of the people of Israel may obey. 21And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him(BV) by the judgment of the Urim before the LORD. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation." 22And Moses did as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua and made him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation, 23and he laid his hands on him and(BW) commissioned him as the LORD directed through Moses.

Mark 8

Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand
1(A) In those days, when again a great crowd had gathered, and they had nothing to eat, he called his disciples to him and said to them, 2(B) "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. 3And if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way. And some of them have come from far away." 4And his disciples answered him, "How can one feed these people with bread here in this desolate place?" 5And he asked them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said,(C) "Seven." 6And he directed the crowd to sit down on the ground. And he took the seven loaves, and(D) having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and they set them before the crowd. 7And they had a few small fish. And(E) having blessed them, he said that these also should be set before them. 8And(F) they ate and were satisfied. And they took up the broken pieces left over,(G) seven baskets full. 9And there were about four thousand people. And he sent them away. 10And immediately he got into(H) the boat with his disciples and went to the district of(I) Dalmanutha.[a]
The Pharisees Demand a Sign
11(J) The Pharisees came and began to argue with him,(K) seeking from him(L) a sign from heaven(M) to test him. 12And(N) he sighed deeply(O) in his spirit and said, "Why does this generation seek a sign? Truly, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation." 13And(P) he left them, got into the boat again, and went to the other side.
The Leaven of the Pharisees and Herod
14Now they had forgotten to bring bread, and they had only one loaf with them in the boat. 15And he cautioned them, saying, "Watch out;(Q) beware of(R) the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of(S) Herod."[b] 16And they began discussing with one another the fact that they had no bread. 17And(T) Jesus, aware of this, said to them, "Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread?(U) Do you not yet perceive(V) or understand? Are your hearts hardened? 18(W) Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember? 19When I broke(X) the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?" They said to him, "Twelve." 20"And(Y) the seven for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?" And they said to him, "Seven." 21And he said to them, "Do you not yet understand?"
Jesus Heals a Blind Man at Bethsaida
22And they came(Z) to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. 23And(AA) he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when(AB) he had(AC) spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, "Do you see anything?" 24And he looked up and said, "I see men, but they look like trees, walking." 25Then Jesus[c] laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 26And he sent him to his home, saying, (AD) "Do not even enter the village."

27(AE) And Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" 28And they told him,(AF) "John the Baptist; and others say,(AG) Elijah; and others, one of the prophets." 29And he asked them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered him,(AH) "You are(AI) the Christ." 30(AJ) And he strictly charged them to tell no one about him.
Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection
31(AK) And he began to teach them that(AL) the Son of Man must(AM) suffer many things and(AN) be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and(AO) after three days rise again. 32And he said this(AP) plainly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. 33But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, (AQ) "Get behind me, Satan! For you(AR) are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man."

34And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, "If anyone would come after me, let him(AS) deny himself and(AT) take up his cross and follow me. 35For(AU) whoever would save his life[d] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake(AV) and the gospel’s will save it. 36(AW) For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? 37For(AX) what can a man give in return for his soul? 38For(AY) whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this(AZ) adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed(BA) when he comes in the glory of his Father with(BB) the holy angels."
