John came baptizing[a](A) in the wilderness(B) and preaching a baptism of repentance[b](C) for the forgiveness(D) of sins.(E) The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem(F) were flocking to him, and they were baptized by him in the Jordan(G) River as they confessed(H) their sins.(I) John wore a camel-hair garment with a leather belt around his waist and ate locusts(J) and wild honey.(K) He was preaching: “Someone more powerful(L) than I will come after me.(M) I am not worthy(N) to stoop down and untie the strap of His sandals.(O) I have baptized you with[c] water,(P) but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”(Q)
