⁸ if it is to encourage, then give encouragement;^(A) if it is giving, then give generously;^(B) if it is to lead,^[a] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

² In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.^(A)

¹¹ You will be enriched^(A) in every way so that you can be generous^(B) on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.^(C)

¹³ Because of the service^(A) by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God^(B) for the obedience that accompanies your confession^(C) of the gospel of Christ,^(D) and for your generosity^(E) in sharing with them and with everyone else.

⁵ If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God,^(A) who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.^(B)
