37 I pursued my enemies(A) and overtook them;
    I did not turn back till they were destroyed.
38 I crushed them(B) so that they could not rise;(C)
    they fell beneath my feet.(D)
39 You armed me with strength(E) for battle;
    you humbled my adversaries(F) before me.
40 You made my enemies turn their backs(G) in flight,
    and I destroyed(H) my foes.
41 They cried for help, but there was no one to save them(I)
    to the Lord, but he did not answer.(J)
42 I beat them as fine as windblown dust;(K)
    I trampled them[a] like mud in the streets.
43 You have delivered me from the attacks of the people;
    you have made me the head of nations.(L)
People I did not know(M) now serve me,
44     foreigners(N) cower before me;
    as soon as they hear of me, they obey me.
45 They all lose heart;(O)
    they come trembling(P) from their strongholds.(Q)

46 The Lord lives!(R) Praise be to my Rock!(S)
    Exalted be God(T) my Savior!(U)
47 He is the God who avenges(V) me,
    who subdues nations(W) under me,
48     who saves(X) me from my enemies.(Y)
You exalted me above my foes;
    from a violent man(Z) you rescued me.
49 Therefore I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;(AA)
    I will sing(AB) the praises of your name.(AC)

50 He gives his king great victories;
    he shows unfailing love to his anointed,(AD)
    to David(AE) and to his descendants forever.(AF)

Psalm 19[b]

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

The heavens(AG) declare(AH) the glory of God;(AI)
    the skies(AJ) proclaim the work of his hands.(AK)
Day after day they pour forth speech;
    night after night they reveal knowledge.(AL)
They have no speech, they use no words;
    no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice[c] goes out into all the earth,
    their words to the ends of the world.(AM)
In the heavens God has pitched a tent(AN) for the sun.(AO)
    It is like a bridegroom(AP) coming out of his chamber,(AQ)
    like a champion(AR) rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens(AS)
    and makes its circuit to the other;(AT)
    nothing is deprived of its warmth.

The law of the Lord(AU) is perfect,(AV)
    refreshing the soul.(AW)
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,(AX)
    making wise the simple.(AY)
The precepts of the Lord are right,(AZ)
    giving joy(BA) to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
    giving light to the eyes.(BB)
The fear of the Lord(BC) is pure,
    enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
    and all of them are righteous.(BD)

10 They are more precious than gold,(BE)
    than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,(BF)
    than honey from the honeycomb.(BG)
11 By them your servant is warned;
    in keeping them there is great reward.
12 But who can discern their own errors?
    Forgive my hidden faults.(BH)
13 Keep your servant also from willful sins;(BI)
    may they not rule over me.(BJ)
Then I will be blameless,(BK)
    innocent of great transgression.

14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
    be pleasing(BL) in your sight,
    Lord, my Rock(BM) and my Redeemer.(BN)
