¹⁹ Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,^(A) baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,^{(B) 20} and teaching^(C) them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you^(D) always, to the very end of the age.”^(E)

³⁴ For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,

³⁶ “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord^(B) and Messiah.”^(C)

³⁷ When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”^(D)

³⁸ Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized,^(E) every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.^(F) And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.^{(G) 39} The promise is for you and your children^(H) and for all who are far off^(I)—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

⁴⁰ With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”^{(J) 41} Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number^(K) that day.

The Fellowship of the Believers

⁴² They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching^(L) and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread^(M) and to prayer.^{(N) 43} Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.^{(O) 44} All the believers were together and had everything in common.^{(P) 45} They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.^{(Q) 46} Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.^(R) They broke bread^(S) in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, ⁴⁷ praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.^(T) And the Lord added to their number^(U) daily those who were being saved.

³⁶ As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?”^{(A) [37] [a] 38} And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. ³⁹ When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away,^(B) and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

⁸ Crispus,^(A) the synagogue leader,^(B) and his entire household^(C) believed in the Lord; and many of the Corinthians who heard Paul believed and were baptized.

²³ For I received from the Lord^(A) what I also passed on to you:^(B) The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, ²⁴ and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body,^(C) which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” ²⁵ In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant^(D) in my blood;^(E) do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” ²⁶ For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.^(F)

Unity and Diversity in the Body

¹² Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body,^(A) so it is with Christ.^{(B) 13} For we were all baptized^(C) by^[a] one Spirit^(D) so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free^(E)—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.^{(F) 14} Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.^(G)

²² And God placed all things under his feet^(A) and appointed him to be head^(B) over everything for the church, ²³ which is his body,^(C) the fullness of him^(D) who fills everything in every way.^(E)

²⁵ Husbands, love your wives,^(A) just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her^{(B) 26} to make her holy,^(C) cleansing^[a] her by the washing^(D) with water through the word, ²⁷ and to present her to himself^(E) as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.^(F)
