⁸ Heal the sick, ^[a]cleanse the lepers, ^[b]raise the dead, cast out demons. ^(A)Freely you have received, freely give.

The Ephesian Elders Exhorted

¹⁷ From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called for the elders of the church.

³² “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and ^(A)to the word of His grace, which is able ^(B)to build you up and give you ^(C)an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. ³³ I have coveted no one’s silver or gold or apparel. ^34 [a]Yes, you yourselves know ^(D)that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me. ³⁵ I have shown you in every way, ^(E)by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

¹⁷ For we are not, as ^[a]so many, ^(A)peddling^[b] the word of God; but as ^(B)of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.

⁹ For you remember, brethren, our ^(A)labor and toil; for laboring night and day, ^(B)that we might not be a burden to any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.

⁷ For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; ⁸ nor did we eat anyone’s bread ^[a]free of charge, but worked with ^(A)labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, ⁹ not because we do not have ^(B)authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.

¹⁰ For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.

^5 [a]useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. ^[b]From ^(A)such withdraw yourself.

^2 (A)Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, ^(B)not by compulsion but ^[a]willingly, ^(C)not for dishonest gain but eagerly;

³ nor as ^(A)being ^[a]lords over ^(B)those entrusted to you, but ^(C)being examples to the flock;
