29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid,(A) Mary; you have found favor with God.(B) 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.(C) 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.(D) The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,(E) 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom(F) will never end.”(G)

48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother(A) said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father(B) and I have been anxiously searching for you.”

49 “Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”[a](C) 50 But they did not understand what he was saying to them.(D)

51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them(E) and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.(F) 52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.(G)
