^16 (A)“The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.

^8 (A)This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but ^(B)you^[a] shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Dedication to Theophilus

1 Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those ^(A)things which ^[a]have been fulfilled among us, ² just as those who ^(B)from the beginning were ^(C)eyewitnesses and ministers of the word ^(D)delivered them to us, ³ it seemed good to me also, having ^[b]had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, ^(E)most excellent Theophilus, ^4 (F)that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed.

^2 (A)which He promised before ^(B)through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, ³ concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who ^[a]was ^(C)born of the seed of David according to the flesh, ⁴ and ^(D)declared to be the Son of God with power according ^(E)to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. ⁵ Through Him ^(F)we have received grace and apostleship for ^(G)obedience to the faith among all nations ^(H)for His name, ⁶ among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;

²² Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those ^(A)which the prophets and ^(B)Moses said would come— ^23 (C)that the Christ would suffer, ^(D)that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and ^(E)would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.”
