Job 9:28-35

New International Version

²⁸ I still dread^(A) all my sufferings,
    for I know you will not hold me innocent.^(B)
29 Since I am already found guilty,
    why should I struggle in vain?^(C)
30 Even if I washed myself with soap^(D)
    and my hands^(E) with cleansing powder,^(F)
31 you would plunge me into a slime pit^(G)
    so that even my clothes would detest me.^(H)

³² “He is not a mere mortal^(I) like me that I might answer him,^(J)
    that we might confront each other in court.^(K)
33 If only there were someone to mediate between us,^(L)
    someone to bring us together,^(M)
34 someone to remove God’s rod from me,^(N)
    so that his terror would frighten me no more.^(O)
35 Then I would speak up without fear of him,^(P)
    but as it now stands with me, I cannot.^(Q)
