^3 (A)knowing that the testing of your faith produces ^[a]patience. ⁴ But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be ^[b]perfect and complete, lacking nothing. ^5 (B)If any of you lacks wisdom, ^(C)let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and ^(D)it will be given to him. ^6 (E)But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

^18 (A)Of His own will He brought us forth by the ^(B)word of truth, ^(C)that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.

¹⁷ So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
