⁴ For thus the Lord said to me,
^(A)“As a lion or a young lion growls over his prey,
    and when a band of shepherds is called out against him
he is not terrified by their shouting
    or daunted at their noise,
^(B)so the Lord of hosts will come down
    to fight^[a] on Mount Zion and on its hill.

^(A)“‘The Lord will roar from on high,
    and from his holy habitation utter his voice;
he will roar mightily against his fold,
    ^(B)and shout, like those who tread grapes,
    against all the inhabitants of the earth.

^16 (A)The Lord roars from Zion,
    and ^(B)utters his voice from Jerusalem,
    ^(C)and the heavens and the earth quake.
But the Lord is ^(D)a refuge to his people,
    a stronghold to the people of Israel.

^(A)“The Lord roars from Zion
    and utters his voice from Jerusalem;
^(B)the pastures of the shepherds mourn,
    and the ^(C)top of ^(D)Carmel withers.”
