New International Version
3 “You shall have no other gods before[a] me.(A)
4 “You shall not make for yourself an image(B) in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship(C) them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God,(D) punishing the children for the sin of the parents(E) to the third and fourth generation(F) of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand(G) generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth,(L) the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested(M) on the seventh day.(N) Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 “Honor your father and your mother,(O) so that you may live long(P) in the land(Q) the Lord your God is giving you.

16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life(B)?”(C)
17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”(D)
18 “Which ones?” he inquired.
Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery,(E) you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’[a](F) and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’[b]”(G)
20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”
21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect,(H) go, sell your possessions and give to the poor,(I) and you will have treasure in heaven.(J) Then come, follow me.”
22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”(C)

Favoritism Forbidden
2 My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious(A) Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism.(B) 2 Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. 3 If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” 4 have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges(C) with evil thoughts?
