²⁶ “Fellow children of Abraham^(A) and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation^(B) has been sent. ²⁷ The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus,^(C) yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets^(D) that are read every Sabbath.

The Fulfillment of the Law

¹⁷ “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.^(A)

⁴⁴ He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you:^(A) Everything must be fulfilled^(B) that is written about me in the Law of Moses,^(C) the Prophets^(D) and the Psalms.”^(E)

⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael^(A) and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law,^(B) and about whom the prophets also wrote^(C)—Jesus of Nazareth,^(D) the son of Joseph.”^(E)

³ For what I received^(A) I passed on to you^(B) as of first importance^[a]: that Christ died for our sins^(C) according to the Scriptures,^{(D) 4} that he was buried,^(E) that he was raised^(F) on the third day^(G) according to the Scriptures,^(H)
