¹³ Until I come,^(A) devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture,^(B) to preaching and to teaching. ¹⁴ Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy^(C) when the body of elders^(D) laid their hands on you.^(E)

¹⁵ Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. ¹⁶ Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save^(F) both yourself and your hearers.

²⁵ But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom,^(A) and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.^(B)

²⁶ Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues^(C) deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. ²⁷ Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after^(D) orphans and widows^(E) in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.^(F)
