Descendientes de Judá

4 Los hijos de Judá: Fares, Hezrón, Carmi, Hur y Sobal. 2 Reaía hijo de Sobal engendró a Jahat, y Jahat engendró a Ahumai y a Lahad. Estas son las familias de los zoratitas. 3 Y estas son las del padre de Etam: Jezreel, Isma e Ibdas. Y el nombre de su hermana fue Haze-lelponi. 4 Penuel fue padre de Gedor, y Ezer padre de Husa. Estos fueron los hijos de Hur primogénito de Efrata, padre de Belén. 5 Asur padre de Tecoa tuvo dos mujeres, Hela y Naara. 6 Y Naara dio a luz a Ahuzam, Hefer, Temeni y Ahastari. Estos fueron los hijos de Naara. 7 Los hijos de Hela: Zeret, Jezoar y Etnán. 8 Cos engendró a Anub, a Zobeba, y la familia de Aharhel hijo de Harum. 9 Y Jabes fue más ilustre que sus hermanos, al cual su madre llamó Jabes, diciendo: Por cuanto lo di a luz en dolor.[a] 10 E invocó Jabes al Dios de Israel, diciendo: ¡Oh, si me dieras bendición, y ensancharas mi territorio, y si tu mano estuviera conmigo, y me libraras de mal, para que no me dañe! Y le otorgó Dios lo que pidió. 11 Quelub hermano de Súa engendró a Mehir, el cual fue padre de Estón. 12 Y Estón engendró a Bet-rafa, a Paseah, y a Tehina padre de la ciudad de Nahas; estos son los varones de Reca. 13 Los hijos de Cenaz: Otoniel y Seraías. Los hijos de Otoniel: Hatat, 14 y Meonotai, el cual engendró a Ofra. Y Seraías engendró a Joab, padre de los habitantes del valle de Carisim,[b] porque fueron artífices. 15 Los hijos de Caleb hijo de Jefone: Iru, Ela y Naam; e hijo de Ela fue Cenaz. 16 Los hijos de Jehalelel: Zif, Zifa, Tirías y Asareel. 17 Y los hijos de Esdras: Jeter, Mered, Efer y Jalón; también engendró a María, a Samai y a Isba padre de Estemoa. 18 Y su mujer Jehudaía dio a luz a Jered padre de Gedor, a Heber padre de Soco y a Jecutiel padre de Zanoa. Estos fueron los hijos de Bitia hija de Faraón, con la cual casó Mered. 19 Y los hijos de la mujer de Hodías, hermana de Naham, fueron el padre de Keila garmita, y Estemoa maacateo. 20 Los hijos de Simón: Amnón, Rina, Ben-hanán y Tilón. Y los hijos de Isi: Zohet y Benzohet. 21 Los hijos de Sela hijo de Judá: Er padre de Leca, y Laada padre de Maresa, y las familias de los que trabajan lino en Bet-asbea; 22 y Joacim, y los varones de Cozeba, Joás, y Saraf, los cuales dominaron en Moab y volvieron a Lehem, según registros antiguos. 23 Estos eran alfareros, y moraban en medio de plantíos y cercados; moraban allá con el rey, ocupados en su servicio.

Descendientes de Simeón

24 Los hijos de Simeón: Nemuel, Jamín, Jarib, Zera, Saúl, 25 y Salum su hijo, Mibsam su hijo y Misma su hijo. 26 Los hijos de Misma: Hamuel su hijo, Zacur su hijo, y Simei su hijo. 27 Los hijos de Simei fueron dieciséis, y seis hijas; pero sus hermanos no tuvieron muchos hijos, ni multiplicaron toda su familia como los hijos de Judá. 28 Y habitaron en Beerseba, Molada, Hazar-sual, 29 Bilha, Ezem, Tolad, 30 Betuel, Horma, Siclag, 31 Bet-marcabot, Hazar-susim, Bet-birai y Saaraim. Estas fueron sus ciudades hasta el reinado de David. 32 Y sus aldeas fueron Etam, Aín, Rimón, Toquén y Asán; cinco pueblos, 33 y todas sus aldeas que estaban en contorno de estas ciudades hasta Baal. Esta fue su habitación, y esta su descendencia.(A)

34 Y Mesobab, Jamlec, Josías hijo de Amasías, 35 Joel, Jehú hijo de Josibías, hijo de Seraías, hijo de Asiel, 36 Elioenai, Jaacoba, Jesohaía, Asaías, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaía, 37 y Ziza hijo de Sifi, hijo de Alón, hijo de Jedaías, hijo de Simri, hijo de Semaías. 38 Estos, por sus nombres, son los principales entre sus familias; y las casas de sus padres fueron multiplicadas en gran manera. 39 Y llegaron hasta la entrada de Gedor hasta el oriente del valle, buscando pastos para sus ganados. 40 Y hallaron gruesos y buenos pastos, y tierra ancha y espaciosa, quieta y reposada, porque los de Cam la habitaban antes. 41 Y estos que han sido escritos por sus nombres, vinieron en días de Ezequías rey de Judá, y desbarataron sus tiendas y cabañas que allí hallaron, y los destruyeron hasta hoy, y habitaron allí en lugar de ellos; por cuanto había allí pastos para sus ganados. 42 Asimismo quinientos hombres de ellos, de los hijos de Simeón, fueron al monte de Seir, llevando por capitanes a Pelatías, Nearías, Refaías y Uziel, hijos de Isi, 43 y destruyeron a los que habían quedado de Amalec, y habitaron allí hasta hoy.

Descendientes de Rubén

5 Los hijos de Rubén primogénito de Israel (porque él era el primogénito, mas como violó el lecho de su padre,(B) sus derechos de primogenitura fueron dados a los hijos de José, hijo de Israel, y no fue contado por primogénito; 2 bien que Judá llegó a ser el mayor sobre sus hermanos, y el príncipe de ellos;(C) mas el derecho de primogenitura fue de José); 3 fueron, pues, los hijos de Rubén primogénito de Israel: Hanoc, Falú, Hezrón y Carmi. 4 Los hijos de Joel: Semaías su hijo, Gog su hijo, Simei su hijo, 5 Micaía su hijo, Reaía su hijo, Baal su hijo, 6 Beera su hijo, el cual fue transportado por Tiglat-pileser rey de los asirios.(D) Este era principal de los rubenitas. 7 Y sus hermanos por sus familias, cuando eran contados en sus descendencias, tenían por príncipes a Jeiel y a Zacarías. 8 Y Bela hijo de Azaz, hijo de Sema, hijo de Joel, habitó en Aroer hasta Nebo y Baal-meón. 9 Habitó también desde el oriente hasta la entrada del desierto, desde el río Éufrates; porque tenía mucho ganado en la tierra de Galaad. 10 Y en los días de Saúl hicieron guerra contra los agarenos, los cuales cayeron en su mano; y ellos habitaron en sus tiendas en toda la región oriental de Galaad.

Descendientes de Gad

11 Y los hijos de Gad habitaron enfrente de ellos en la tierra de Basán hasta Salca. 12 Joel fue el principal en Basán; el segundo Safán, luego Jaanai, después Safat. 13 Y sus hermanos, según las familias de sus padres, fueron Micael, Mesulam, Seba, Jorai, Jacán, Zía y Heber; por todos siete. 14 Estos fueron los hijos de Abihail hijo de Huri, hijo de Jaroa, hijo de Galaad, hijo de Micael, hijo de Jesisai, hijo de Jahdo, hijo de Buz. 15 También Ahí hijo de Abdiel, hijo de Guni, fue principal en la casa de sus padres. 16 Y habitaron en Galaad, en Basán y en sus aldeas, y en todos los ejidos de Sarón hasta salir de ellos. 17 Todos estos fueron contados por sus generaciones en días de Jotam rey de Judá y en días de Jeroboam rey de Israel.

Historia de las dos tribus y media

18 Los hijos de Rubén y de Gad, y la media tribu de Manasés, hombres valientes, hombres que traían escudo y espada, que entesaban arco, y diestros en la guerra, eran cuarenta y cuatro mil setecientos sesenta que salían a batalla. 19 Estos tuvieron guerra contra los agarenos, y Jetur, Nafis y Nodab. 20 Y fueron ayudados contra ellos, y los agarenos y todos los que con ellos estaban se rindieron en sus manos; porque clamaron a Dios en la guerra, y les fue favorable, porque esperaron en él. 21 Y tomaron sus ganados, cincuenta mil camellos, doscientas cincuenta mil ovejas y dos mil asnos; y cien mil personas. 22 Y cayeron muchos muertos, porque la guerra era de Dios; y habitaron en sus lugares hasta el cautiverio.

23 Los hijos de la media tribu de Manasés, multiplicados en gran manera, habitaron en la tierra desde Basán hasta Baal-hermón y Senir y el monte de Hermón. 24 Y estos fueron los jefes de las casas de sus padres: Efer, Isi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremías, Hodavías y Jahdiel, hombres valientes y esforzados, varones de nombre y jefes de las casas de sus padres. 25 Pero se rebelaron contra el Dios de sus padres, y se prostituyeron siguiendo a los dioses de los pueblos de la tierra, a los cuales Jehová había quitado de delante de ellos; 26 por lo cual el Dios de Israel excitó el espíritu de Pul(E) rey de los asirios, y el espíritu de Tiglat-pileser(F) rey de los asirios, el cual transportó a los rubenitas y gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés, y los llevó a Halah, a Habor, a Hara y al río Gozán, hasta hoy.(G)

6 Los hijos de Leví: Gersón, Coat y Merari. 2 Los hijos de Coat: Amram, Izhar, Hebrón y Uziel. 3 Los hijos de Amram: Aarón, Moisés y María. Los hijos de Aarón: Nadab, Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar. 4 Eleazar engendró a Finees, Finees engendró a Abisúa, 5 Abisúa engendró a Buqui, Buqui engendró a Uzi, 6 Uzi engendró a Zeraías, Zeraías engendró a Meraiot, 7 Meraiot engendró a Amarías, Amarías engendró a Ahitob, 8 Ahitob engendró a Sadoc, Sadoc engendró a Ahimaas, 9 Ahimaas engendró a Azarías, Azarías engendró a Johanán, 10 y Johanán engendró a Azarías, el que tuvo el sacerdocio en la casa que Salomón edificó en Jerusalén. 11 Azarías engendró a Amarías, Amarías engendró a Ahitob, 12 Ahitob engendró a Sadoc, Sadoc engendró a Salum, 13 Salum engendró a Hilcías, Hilcías engendró a Azarías, 14 Azarías engendró a Seraías, y Seraías engendró a Josadac, 15 y Josadac fue llevado cautivo cuando Jehová transportó a Judá y a Jerusalén por mano de Nabucodonosor.

16 Los hijos de Leví: Gersón, Coat y Merari. 17 Y estos son los nombres de los hijos de Gersón: Libni y Simei. 18 Los hijos de Coat: Amram, Izhar, Hebrón y Uziel. 19 Los hijos de Merari: Mahli y Musi. Estas son las familias de Leví, según sus descendencias.(H) 20 Gersón: Libni su hijo, Jahat su hijo, Zima su hijo, 21 Joa su hijo, Iddo su hijo, Zera su hijo, Jeatrai su hijo. 22 Los hijos de Coat: Aminadab su hijo, Coré su hijo, Asir su hijo, 23 Elcana su hijo, Ebiasaf su hijo, Asir su hijo, 24 Tahat su hijo, Uriel su hijo, Uzías su hijo, y Saúl su hijo. 25 Los hijos de Elcana: Amasai y Ahimot; 26 Elcana su hijo, Zofai su hijo, Nahat su hijo, 27 Eliab su hijo, Jeroham su hijo, Elcana su hijo. 28 Los hijos de Samuel: el primogénito Vasni, y Abías. 29 Los hijos de Merari: Mahli, Libni su hijo, Simei su hijo, Uza su hijo, 30 Simea su hijo, Haguía su hijo, Asaías su hijo.

31 Estos son los que David puso sobre el servicio de canto en la casa de Jehová, después que el arca tuvo reposo, 32 los cuales servían delante de la tienda del tabernáculo de reunión en el canto, hasta que Salomón edificó la casa de Jehová en Jerusalén; después estuvieron en su ministerio según su costumbre. 33 Estos, pues, con sus hijos, ayudaban: de los hijos de Coat, el cantor Hemán hijo de Joel, hijo de Samuel, 34 hijo de Elcana, hijo de Jeroham, hijo de Eliel, hijo de Toa, 35 hijo de Zuf, hijo de Elcana, hijo de Mahat, hijo de Amasai, 36 hijo de Elcana, hijo de Joel, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Sofonías, 37 hijo de Tahat, hijo de Asir, hijo de Ebiasaf, hijo de Coré, 38 hijo de Izhar, hijo de Coat, hijo de Leví, hijo de Israel; 39 y su hermano Asaf, el cual estaba a su mano derecha; Asaf, hijo de Berequías, hijo de Simea, 40 hijo de Micael, hijo de Baasías, hijo de Malquías, 41 hijo de Etni, hijo de Zera, hijo de Adaía, 42 hijo de Etán, hijo de Zima, hijo de Simei, 43 hijo de Jahat, hijo de Gersón, hijo de Leví. 44 Pero a la mano izquierda estaban sus hermanos los hijos de Merari, esto es, Etán hijo de Quisi, hijo de Abdi, hijo de Maluc, 45 hijo de Hasabías, hijo de Amasías, hijo de Hilcías, 46 hijo de Amsi, hijo de Bani, hijo de Semer, 47 hijo de Mahli, hijo de Musi, hijo de Merari, hijo de Leví. 48 Y sus hermanos los levitas fueron puestos sobre todo el ministerio del tabernáculo de la casa de Dios.

Descendientes de Aarón

49 Mas Aarón y sus hijos ofrecían sacrificios sobre el altar del holocausto, y sobre el altar del perfume quemaban incienso, y ministraban en toda la obra del lugar santísimo, y hacían las expiaciones por Israel conforme a todo lo que Moisés siervo de Dios había mandado. 50 Los hijos de Aarón son estos: Eleazar su hijo, Finees su hijo, Abisúa su hijo, 51 Buqui su hijo, Uzi su hijo, Zeraías su hijo, 52 Meraiot su hijo, Amarías su hijo, Ahitob su hijo, 53 Sadoc su hijo, Ahimaas su hijo.

Las ciudades de los levitas

(Jos. 21.1-42)

54 Estas son sus habitaciones, conforme a sus domicilios y sus términos, las de los hijos de Aarón por las familias de los coatitas, porque a ellos les tocó en suerte. 55 Les dieron, pues, Hebrón en tierra de Judá, y sus ejidos alrededor de ella. 56 Pero el territorio de la ciudad y sus aldeas se dieron a Caleb, hijo de Jefone. 57 De Judá dieron a los hijos de Aarón la ciudad de refugio, esto es, Hebrón; además, Libna con sus ejidos, Jatir, Estemoa con sus ejidos, 58 Hilén con sus ejidos, Debir con sus ejidos, 59 Asán con sus ejidos y Bet-semes con sus ejidos. 60 Y de la tribu de Benjamín, Geba con sus ejidos, Alemet con sus ejidos y Anatot con sus ejidos. Todas sus ciudades fueron trece ciudades, repartidas por sus linajes.

61 A los hijos de Coat que quedaron de su parentela, dieron por suerte diez ciudades de la media tribu de Manasés. 62 A los hijos de Gersón, por sus linajes, dieron de la tribu de Isacar, de la tribu de Aser, de la tribu de Neftalí y de la tribu de Manasés en Basán, trece ciudades. 63 Y a los hijos de Merari, por sus linajes, de la tribu de Rubén, de la tribu de Gad y de la tribu de Zabulón, dieron por suerte doce ciudades. 64 Y los hijos de Israel dieron a los levitas ciudades con sus ejidos. 65 Dieron por suerte de la tribu de los hijos de Judá, de la tribu de los hijos de Simeón y de la tribu de los hijos de Benjamín, las ciudades que nombraron por sus nombres.

66 A las familias de los hijos de Coat dieron ciudades con sus ejidos de la tribu de Efraín. 67 Les dieron la ciudad de refugio, Siquem con sus ejidos en el monte de Efraín; además, Gezer con sus ejidos, 68 Jocmeam con sus ejidos, Bet-horón con sus ejidos, 69 Ajalón con sus ejidos y Gat-rimón con sus ejidos. 70 De la media tribu de Manasés, Aner con sus ejidos y Bileam con sus ejidos, para los de las familias de los hijos de Coat que habían quedado.

71 A los hijos de Gersón dieron de la media tribu de Manasés, Golán en Basán con sus ejidos y Astarot con sus ejidos. 72 De la tribu de Isacar, Cedes con sus ejidos, Daberat con sus ejidos, 73 Ramot con sus ejidos y Anem con sus ejidos. 74 De la tribu de Aser, Masal con sus ejidos, Abdón con sus ejidos, 75 Hucoc con sus ejidos y Rehob con sus ejidos. 76 De la tribu de Neftalí, Cedes en Galilea con sus ejidos, Hamón con sus ejidos y Quiriataim con sus ejidos. 77 A los hijos de Merari que habían quedado, dieron de la tribu de Zabulón, Rimón con sus ejidos y Tabor con sus ejidos. 78 Del otro lado del Jordán frente a Jericó, al oriente del Jordán, dieron de la tribu de Rubén, Beser en el desierto con sus ejidos, Jaza con sus ejidos, 79 Cademot con sus ejidos y Mefaat con sus ejidos. 80 Y de la tribu de Gad, Ramot de Galaad con sus ejidos, Mahanaim con sus ejidos, 81 Hesbón con sus ejidos y Jazer con sus ejidos.

4 (A)The sons of Judah were Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal. 2 Reaiah the son of Shobal fathered Jahath, and Jahath fathered Ahumai and Lahad. These were the families of the Zorathites. 3 These were the [a]sons of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi. 4 Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem. 5 Ashhur, the father of Tekoa, had two wives, Helah and Naarah. 6 Naarah bore to him Ahuzzam, Hepher, Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah. 7 The sons of Helah were Zereth, [b]Izhar, and Ethnan. 8 Koz fathered Anub and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel, the son of Harum. 9 Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I gave birth to him in pain.” 10 Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would greatly bless me and extend my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would [c]keep me from harm so that it would not hurt me!” And God brought about what he requested.

11 Chelub the brother of Shuhah fathered Mehir, who was the father of Eshton. 12 Eshton fathered Beth-rapha and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of [d]Ir-nahash. These are the men of Recah.

13 Now the sons of Kenaz were Othniel and Seraiah. And the sons of Othniel were Hathath and Meonothai. 14 Meonothai fathered Ophrah, and Seraiah fathered Joab the father of [e]Ge-harashim, for they were craftsmen. 15 The sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh were Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the [f]son of Elah was [g]Kenaz. 16 The sons of Jehallelel were Ziph and Ziphah, Tiria and Asarel. 17 The [h]sons of Ezrah were Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. And Mered’s wife conceived and gave birth to [i]Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa. 18 (His Jewish wife gave birth to Jered, the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.) [j]These were the sons of Bithia the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered [k]married. 19 The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the [l]fathers of Keilah the Garmite and Eshtemoa the Maacathite. 20 The sons of Shimon were Amnon and Rinnah, and Benhanan and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi were Zoheth and Ben-zoheth. 21 The sons of Shelah the son of Judah were Er the father of Lecah and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of the linen workers at Beth-ashbea; 22 and Jokim, the men of Cozeba, Joash, Saraph, who ruled in Moab, and Jashubi-lehem. And the [m]records are ancient. 23 These were the potters and the inhabitants of Netaim and Gederah; they lived there with the king for his work.

Descendants of Simeon

24 The sons of Simeon were [n]Nemuel and Jamin, [o]Jarib, [p]Zerah, and Shaul; 25 Shallum was his son, Mibsam his son, and Mishma his son. 26 The sons of Mishma were Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, and Shimei his son. 27 Now Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brothers did not have many sons, nor did all their family increase like the sons of Judah. 28 They lived in Beersheba, Moladah, and Hazar-shual, 29 in Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad, 30 Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag, 31 Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-biri, and Shaaraim. These were their cities until the reign of David. 32 Their villages were Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan, five cities, 33 and all their settlements that were around the same cities as far as [q]Baal. These were their dwellings, and they have their genealogy.

34 Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah the son of Amaziah, 35 Joel, Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel, 36 and Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah, 37 and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah— 38 these [r]mentioned by name were leaders in their families; and their fathers’ houses spread out greatly. 39 They went to the entrance of Gedor, as far as the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks. 40 They found pasture that was rich and good, and (B)the land was spread out on both sides, and peaceful and undisturbed; for those who lived there previously were Hamites. 41 (C)These people, recorded by name, came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and they [s]attacked their tents and the Meunites who were found there, and utterly destroyed them to this day; and they lived in their place, because there was pasture there for their flocks. 42 From them, from the sons of Simeon, five hundred men went to (D)Mount Seir, with Pelatiah, Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi, as their leaders. 43 (E)They [t]destroyed the remnant of the Amalekites who escaped, and they have lived there to this day.

Genealogy from Reuben

5 Now the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel (for (F)he was the firstborn, but because (G)he defiled his father’s bed, (H)his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel; so he is not enrolled in the genealogy according to the birthright. 2 (I)Though Judah prevailed over his brothers, and (J)from him came the leader, yet the birthright belonged to Joseph), 3 (K)the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel were Hanoch and Pallu, and Hezron and Carmi. 4 The sons of Joel were Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, (L)Shimei his son, 5 Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son, 6 and Beerah his son, whom [u]Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria took into exile; he was leader of the Reubenites. 7 His relatives by their families, (M)in the genealogy of their generations, were Jeiel the chief, then Zechariah 8 and Bela, the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who lived in (N)Aroer, as far as Nebo and Baal-meon. 9 Toward the east he settled as far as the entrance of the wilderness from the river Euphrates, (O)because their livestock had increased in the land of Gilead. 10 In the days of Saul (P)they made war with the Hagrites, who fell by their hand, so that they [v]occupied their tents throughout the [w]land east of Gilead.

11 Now the sons of Gad lived opposite them in the land of (Q)Bashan, as far as (R)Salecah. 12 Joel was the head and Shapham the second, then Janai and Shaphat in Bashan. 13 Their relatives of their fathers’ households were Michael, Meshullam, Sheba, Jorai, Jacan, Zia, and Eber, seven. 14 These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz; 15 Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, was head of their fathers’ households. 16 They lived in Gilead, in Bashan and in its towns, and in all the pasture lands of (S)Sharon, as far as their [x]borders. 17 All of these were enrolled in the genealogies in the days of (T)Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of (U)Jeroboam king of Israel.

18 The sons of Reuben, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, consisting of valiant men, men who carried shield and sword and shot with a bow and were skillful in battle, totaled 44,760 who (V)went to war. 19 They made war against (W)the Hagrites, (X)Jetur, Naphish, and Nodab. 20 They were helped against them, and the Hagrites and all who were with them were handed over to them; for (Y)they cried out to God in the battle, and He answered their prayers because (Z)they trusted in Him. 21 They took away their livestock: their fifty thousand camels, 250,000 sheep, and two thousand donkeys; and a hundred thousand [y]people. 22 For many fell mortally wounded, because (AA)the war was of God. And (AB)they settled in their place until the (AC)exile.

23 Now the sons of the half-tribe of Manasseh lived in the land; from Bashan to Baal-hermon, (AD)Senir, and Mount Hermon they were numerous. 24 These were the heads of their fathers’ households: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, valiant mighty men, famous men, heads of their fathers’ households.

25 But they were (AE)untrue to the God of their fathers and (AF)prostituted themselves (AG)with the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them. 26 So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of (AH)Pul, king of Assyria, that is, the spirit of [z]Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he (AI)took them into exile, namely the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and to the river of Gozan, where they are to this day.

6 [aa](AJ)The sons of Levi were [ab]Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. 2 The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. 3 The children of Amram were Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. And the sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. 4 Eleazar fathered Phinehas, Phinehas fathered Abishua, 5 Abishua fathered Bukki, Bukki fathered Uzzi, 6 Uzzi fathered Zerahiah, Zerahiah fathered Meraioth, 7 Meraioth fathered Amariah, Amariah fathered Ahitub, 8 (AK)Ahitub fathered Zadok, Zadok (AL)fathered Ahimaaz, 9 Ahimaaz fathered Azariah, Azariah fathered Johanan, 10 Johanan fathered Azariah ((AM)it was he who served as the priest in the house (AN)which Solomon built in Jerusalem), 11 (AO)Azariah fathered Amariah, Amariah fathered Ahitub, 12 Ahitub fathered Zadok, Zadok fathered [ac]Shallum, 13 Shallum fathered Hilkiah, Hilkiah fathered Azariah, 14 Azariah fathered (AP)Seraiah, and Seraiah fathered Jehozadak; 15 Jehozadak went along when the Lord led Judah and Jerusalem into exile [ad]by Nebuchadnezzar.

16 [ae](AQ)The sons of Levi were [af]Gershom, Kohath, and Merari. 17 These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Libni and Shimei. 18 The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. 19 The sons of (AR)Merari were Mahli and Mushi. And these are the families of the Levites according to their fathers’ households. 20 Of Gershom: Libni his son, Jahath his son, Zimmah his son, 21 Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, and Jeatherai his son. 22 The sons of Kohath were Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son, 23 Elkanah his son, Ebiasaph his son, Assir his son, 24 Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son. 25 The sons of Elkanah were Amasai and Ahimoth. 26 As for Elkanah, the sons of Elkanah were Zophai his son, Nahath his son, 27 Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, and Elkanah his son. 28 The sons of Samuel were (AS)Joel, the firstborn, and Abijah, the second. 29 The sons of Merari were Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son, 30 Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, and Asaiah his son.

31 (AT)Now these are the ones whom David appointed over the [ag]service of song in the house of the Lord, (AU)after the ark rested there. 32 They were ministering in song in front of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting until Solomon’s building of the house of the Lord in Jerusalem; and they [ah]served in their office according to their order. 33 These are the ones who [ai]served with their sons: From the sons of the Kohathites were Heman the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel, 34 the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah, 35 the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai, 36 the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah, 37 the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, 38 the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel. 39 Heman’s brother Asaph stood at his right hand, Asaph the son of Berechiah, the son of Shimea, 40 the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malchijah, 41 the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah, 42 the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei, 43 the son of Jahath, the son of Gershom, the son of Levi. 44 On the left hand were their kinsmen the sons of Merari: Ethan the son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch, 45 the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah, 46 the son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer, 47 the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi. 48 Their kinsmen the Levites were [aj]appointed for all the service of the tabernacle of the house of God.

49 But Aaron and his sons [ak](AV)offered on the altar of burnt offering and (AW)on the altar of incense, for all the work of the Most Holy Place, and (AX)to make atonement for Israel, in accordance with everything that Moses the servant of God had commanded. 50 (AY)These are the sons of Aaron: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son, 51 Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son, 52 Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son, 53 Zadok his son, and Ahimaaz his son.

54 Now these are their settlements according to their camps within their borders. To the sons of Aaron of the families of the Kohathites (for theirs was the (AZ)first lot), 55 to them they gave (BA)Hebron in the land of Judah and its pasture lands around it; 56 (BB)but they gave the fields of the city and its settlements to Caleb the son of Jephunneh. 57 (BC)To the sons of Aaron they gave the following cities of refuge: Hebron, Libnah together with its pasture lands, Jattir, Eshtemoa with its pasture lands, 58 [al]Hilen with its pasture lands, Debir with its pasture lands, 59 [am]Ashan with its pasture lands, and Beth-shemesh with its pasture lands; 60 and from the tribe of Benjamin: Geba with its pasture lands, [an]Allemeth with its pasture lands, and Anathoth with its pasture lands. Their cities throughout their families were thirteen cities in all.

61 (BD)Then to the rest of the sons of Kohath were given by lot, from the family of the tribe, from the half-tribe, the half of Manasseh, ten cities. 62 To the sons of Gershom, according to their families, were given from the tribe of Issachar, the tribe of Asher, the tribe of Naphtali, and the tribe of Manasseh, thirteen cities in Bashan. 63 (BE)To the sons of Merari were given by lot, according to their families, from the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad, and the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities. 64 (BF)So the sons of Israel gave the Levites the cities with their pasture lands. 65 They gave by lot from the tribe of the sons of Judah, the tribe of the sons of Simeon, and the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, (BG)these cities which are mentioned by name.

66 (BH)Now some of the families of the sons of Kohath had cities of their territory from the tribe of Ephraim. 67 They gave to them the following cities of refuge: Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim with its pasture lands, Gezer with its pasture lands, 68 Jokmeam with its pasture lands, Beth-horon with its pasture lands, 69 Aijalon with its pasture lands, and Gath-rimmon with its pasture lands; 70 and from the half-tribe of Manasseh: Aner with its pasture lands and Bileam with its pasture lands, for the rest of the family of the sons of Kohath.

71 To the sons of Gershom were given, from the family of the half-tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan with its pasture lands and Ashtaroth with its pasture lands; 72 and from the tribe of Issachar: Kedesh with its pasture lands, Daberath with its pasture lands, 73 Ramoth with its pasture lands, and Anem with its pasture lands; 74 and from the tribe of Asher: Mashal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands, 75 Hukok with its pasture lands, and Rehob with its pasture lands; 76 and from the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee with its pasture lands, Hammon with its pasture lands, and Kiriathaim with its pasture lands.

77 To the rest of the Levites, the sons of Merari, were given, from the tribe of Zebulun: Rimmono with its pasture lands, Tabor with its pasture lands, 78 and beyond the Jordan at Jericho, on the east side of the Jordan, were given them, from the tribe of Reuben: Bezer in the wilderness with its pasture lands, Jahzah with its pasture lands, 79 Kedemoth with its pasture lands, and Mephaath with its pasture lands; 80 and from the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead with its pasture lands, Mahanaim with its pasture lands, 81 Heshbon with its pasture lands, and Jazer with its pasture lands.
