24 Depois, virá o fim, quando tiver entregado o Reino a Deus, ao Pai, e quando houver aniquilado todo império e toda potestade e força. 25 Porque convém que reine até que haja posto a todos os inimigos debaixo de seus pés. 26 Ora, o último inimigo que há de ser aniquilado é a morte. 27 Porque todas as coisas sujeitou debaixo de seus pés. Mas, quando diz que todas as coisas lhe estão sujeitas, claro está que se excetua aquele que sujeitou todas as coisas. 28 E, quando todas as coisas lhe estiverem sujeitas, então, também o mesmo Filho se sujeitará àquele que todas as coisas lhe sujeitou, para que Deus seja tudo em todos.

O Livro
24 Então virá o fim, quando Cristo entregará o reino a Deus, o Pai, tendo derrubado todos os domínios, autoridades e poderes. 25 Porque Cristo reinará até que tenha derrotado todos os seus inimigos, 26 incluindo o último, que será a morte. 27 Porque ele pôs tudo sob os seus pés. Com efeito, ao dizer que tudo está posto sob os seus pés, é óbvio que isso exclui aquele que lhe sujeitou esse tudo, isto é, o seu próprio Pai. 28 Quando Cristo tiver finalmente ganho a batalha contra os seus inimigos, então ele, o Filho de Deus, colocar-se-á também a si próprio sob a autoridade do Pai, para que Deus, que lhe deu a vitória sobre tudo, seja absolutamente supremo.

The Message
21-28 There is a nice symmetry in this: Death initially came by a man, and resurrection from death came by a man. Everybody dies in Adam; everybody comes alive in Christ. But we have to wait our turn: Christ is first, then those with him at his Coming, the grand consummation when, after crushing the opposition, he hands over his kingdom to God the Father. He won’t let up until the last enemy is down—and the very last enemy is death! As the psalmist said, “He laid them low, one and all; he walked all over them.” When Scripture says that “he walked all over them,” it’s obvious that he couldn’t at the same time be walked on. When everything and everyone is finally under God’s rule, the Son will step down, taking his place with everyone else, showing that God’s rule is absolutely comprehensive—a perfect ending!
