²⁴ Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus.^{(A) 25} As Paul talked about righteousness, self-control^(B) and the judgment^(C) to come, Felix was afraid^(D) and said, “That’s enough for now! You may leave. When I find it convenient, I will send for you.” ²⁶ At the same time he was hoping that Paul would offer him a bribe, so he sent for him frequently and talked with him.

³² For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness,^(A) and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors^(B) and the prostitutes^(C) did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent^(D) and believe him.

⁶⁷ “If you are the Messiah,” they said, “tell us.”

Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me, ⁶⁸ and if I asked you, you would not answer.^{(A) 69} But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”^(B)

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

³⁶ While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”^(A)

³⁷ They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.^{(B) 38} He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? ³⁹ Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see;^(C) a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

⁴⁰ When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. ⁴¹ And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” ⁴² They gave him a piece of broiled fish, ⁴³ and he took it and ate it in their presence.^(D)

¹² I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?

³⁷ And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me.^(A) You have never heard his voice nor seen his form,^{(B) 38} nor does his word dwell in you,^(C) for you do not believe^(D) the one he sent.^{(E) 39} You study^[a] the Scriptures^(F) diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life.^(G) These are the very Scriptures that testify about me,^{(H) 40} yet you refuse to come to me^(I) to have life.

⁴⁶ If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.^{(A) 47} But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?”^(B)

⁵ For even his own brothers did not believe in him.^(A)

²⁵ Jesus answered, “I did tell you,^(A) but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me,^{(B) 26} but you do not believe because you are not my sheep.^(C)
