men. Paul assumes in 1 Cor. 11:5 that women, too, will pray when the church meets for worship. Here he is addressing a specific problem at Ephesus.

without anger or quarreling. Paul is not concerned to mandate a particular posture, but to encourage a proper attitude (1:5).
