  1. Prologue: Christ, the Eternal Word

    In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
  2. For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.
  3. Andrew went to find his brother, Simon, and told him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means “Christ”).
  4. The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
  5. And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
  6. Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
  7. But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!”
  8. Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.
  9. But now the people believed Philip’s message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, many men and women were baptized.
  10. Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!” And he was healed instantly.
  11. This is the message of Good News for the people of Israel—that there is peace with God through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.
  12. So he gave orders for them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Afterward Cornelius asked him to stay with them for several days.
  13. And since God gave these Gentiles the same gift he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to stand in God’s way?”
  14. When he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. Both of them stayed there with the church for a full year, teaching large crowds of people. (It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.)

  16. This went on day after day until Paul got so exasperated that he turned and said to the demon within her, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And instantly it left her.
  17. A few days later Felix came back with his wife, Drusilla, who was Jewish. Sending for Paul, they listened as he told them about faith in Christ Jesus.
  18. Agrippa interrupted him. “Do you think you can persuade me to become a Christian so quickly?”
  19. boldly proclaiming the Kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ. And no one tried to stop him.
  20. Greetings from Paul

    This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News.
  21. and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord.
  22. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.
  23. And you are included among those Gentiles who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ.
  24. I am writing to all of you in Rome who are loved by God and are called to be his own holy people. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
  25. God’s Good News

    Let me say first that I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith in him is being talked about all over the world.
