²² The sons of Shem:

Elam,^(A) Ashur,^(B) Arphaxad,^(C) Lud and Aram.^(D)

²³ The sons of Aram:

Uz,^(E) Hul, Gether and Meshek.^[a]

²⁴ Arphaxad was the father of^[b] Shelah,

and Shelah the father of Eber.^(F)

²⁵ Two sons were born to Eber:

One was named Peleg,^[c] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.

²⁶ Joktan was the father of

Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, ²⁷ Hadoram, Uzal,^(G) Diklah, ²⁸ Obal, Abimael, Sheba,^{(H) 29} Ophir,^(I) Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.
