⁴¹ not to all the people, but unto witnesses that were chosen before of God, even to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

²⁸ And we know that to them that love God ^[a]all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose. ²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also foreordained to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren:

⁴ even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before ^[a]him in love: ⁵ having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

¹¹ in whom also we were made a heritage, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his will;

⁹ For God appointed us not unto wrath, but unto the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹³ But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, for that God chose you ^[a]from the beginning unto salvation in sanctification of the Spirit and ^[b]belief of the truth:

⁹ who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus ^[a]before times eternal,

¹⁰ And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself ^[a]perfect, establish, strengthen ^[b]you.
