What happened on Holy Wednesday?

Yesterday we looked at what happened during Monday and Tuesday of Holy Week. Today, we’re looking at Holy Wednesday. All our references are drawn from the Holy Week Timeline we posted last week.

Here’s Wednesday’s portion of the timeline. The horizontal axis is a timeline; the vertical axis represents the distance between the groups. Please note that “Prepare the Upper Room” happens on Tuesday:

Holy Wednesday

Judas Betrays Jesus: Matthew 26:14-16:

Then one of the Twelve—the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

Editor’s Note: an earlier version of this post included the preparation of the Upper Room to wednesday when in fact it’s a part of Maundy Thursday. We’ve updated the post above and will include that event in tomorrow’s post.
