For (A)if we have become [a]united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be [b]in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our (B)old [c]self was (C)crucified with Him, in order that our (D)body of sin might be [d]done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for (E)the one who has died is [e]freed from sin.

Now (F)if we have died with Christ, we believe that (G)we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been (H)raised from the dead, [f]is never to die again; (I)death no longer is master over Him. 10 For [g]the death that He died, He died to sin once for all time; but [h]the life that He lives, He lives to [i]God. 11 So you too, consider yourselves to be (J)dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

12 Therefore sin is not to (K)reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13 and do not go on (L)presenting [j]the parts of your body to sin as [k]instruments of unrighteousness; but (M)present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and [l]your body’s parts as [m]instruments of righteousness for God. 14 For (N)sin shall not (O)be master over you, for (P)you are not under [n]the Law but (Q)under grace.

15 What then? (R)Are we to sin because we are not under [o]the Law but under grace? [p](S)Far from it! 16 Do you not (T)know that the one to whom you present yourselves as (U)slaves for obedience, you are slaves of that same one whom you obey, either of (V)sin [q]resulting in death, or of obedience [r]resulting in righteousness? 17 But (W)thanks be to God that [s]though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that [t](X)form of teaching to which you were entrusted, 18 and after being (Y)freed from sin, you became slaves to righteousness.

Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith (A)supply (B)moral [a]excellence, and in your moral excellence, (C)knowledge, and in your knowledge, (D)self-control, and in your self-control, (E)perseverance, and in your perseverance, (F)godliness, and in your godliness, (G)brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they do not make you useless nor (H)unproductive in the true (I)knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
